What is a Learning Tower?
A learning tower is a piece of furniture designed to help young children safely participate in kitchen and household activities at counter height. Also known as a kitchen helper or Montessori tower, it is a platform with rails and steps that allows a child to stand at counter height and safely participate in activities such as cooking, cleaning, or crafting. The learning tower is designed to be sturdy and safe, providing children with a secure and stable platform from which to explore and learn. Learning towers are inspired by the Montessori philosophy of education, which emphasizes hands-on learning and independence for children. By providing children with a safe and accessible platform to participate in household activities, learning towers help to promote independence, build confidence, and encourage self-reliance.The benefits of learning towers include:
- Encouraging independence: Learning towers provide children with a safe and accessible platform from which to explore and participate in household activities. This helps to promote independence and self-reliance in young children, as they learn to complete tasks on their own and take responsibility for their own learning and development.
- Fostering learning and creativity: Learning towers can be used for a variety of activities, from cooking and baking to painting and drawing. By providing children with a safe and stable platform from which to explore and experiment, learning towers help to foster creativity and curiosity in young children.
- Building confidence: Learning towers allow children to safely participate in activities that may be beyond their reach or skill level, such as cooking or cleaning. By providing a secure and stable platform, learning towers help to build confidence and self-esteem in young children as they learn and grow.
- Promoting family bonding: Learning towers provide an opportunity for parents and children to bond and learn together. By participating in household activities together, families can build strong bonds and create memories that will last a lifetime.
